For Dr. Daniel Cox, vascular surgery is about more than procedures. It's about helping patients get back to living their lives with less pain and more freedom.
Raised on a farm outside of Champaign, Illinois, Dr. Cox was influenced early by an uncle who worked in healthcare and encouraged his interest in medicine. That path eventually led him to vascular surgery and a special interest in treating peripheral vascular disease through minimally invasive endovascular techniques.
While many people assume surgeons are quick to recommend operations, Dr. Cox takes a different approach.
"I'm pretty conservative," he says. "I try to avoid procedures initially if possible." Instead, he spends time helping patients understand their condition, discussing all available options, and developing a treatment plan that fits their needs.
His patients also appreciate the relationships that come with the long-term care he provides. In fact, some have been seeing Dr. Cox for more than 15 years as they continue receiving follow-up care after their initial consult.
Outside of the office, Dr. Cox enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
